Twas the Season! Christmas Joy 2017

More than 800 gifts were given to participants and their families at last year's Christmas parties! Thank you for making our three parties a resounding success! Your generous support made it possible for more than three hundred fifty participants and their family members to experience Christmas joy at the Northern Virginia, Northwest and Southeast Washington parties. Thanks to all our volunteers, and our Partner Reps who recruited more than one hundred volunteers.

Each party enjoyed its own special activities and charms: from balloon animals to bingo, caroling to making Christmas cards and ornaments, hip-hop to face-painting and, of course, Santa! None of this would have been possible without your generous support.

We especially wish to recognize our hosts and sponsors: St. Alban's Episcopal Church, Annandale (VA); St. Francis Episcopal Church, Great Falls (VA), partner organization Housing Up, Christ Lutheran Church (NW DC); and St. Philip's Episcopal Church (SE DC); St. Timothy's Episcopal Church (SE DC), and St. Luke's Episcopal Church (DC).

We want to thank and give a shout-out to partners who went above and beyond the call: All Souls' Memorial Episcopal Church (DC) and their 20s and 30s Group; St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, College Park (MD) and Daughters of the King (for adult toiletry bags); the Youth Group of Grace Episcopal Church, Silver Spring (MD); St. George's Episcopal Church, Arlington (VA), and St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Arlington (VA).

We also wish to recognize five of our volunteers for their leadership in organizing the parties: Donald Harrison (Sr. Warden, St. Philips) and Alvera Ford (St. Phillip's); Gloria Ducker (St. Timothy's); Ginger Roll (St. Francis); The Rev. Theresa Lewallen (Deacon, St. Alban's), and Rebecca Lent (Grace Episcopal Church).

Finally, we extend a special thank you to our Santas Abraham Butler and Ed Sobansky, for bringing special joy to our children; staff member Deirdre Duffy and the Raw Element Dance Company, for their lively hip-hop moves; Samantha Shields (St. Luke's Episcopal Church, DC) for her outstanding caroling; The Rev. Sally Slater (St. Andrew's Episcopal School, MD) for the children's toiletry bags, and YOU for your continued support of Samaritan Ministry. Without your support, none of this would have been possible: thank you!
