Samaritan Gearing up for our 2024 Empower our Neighbors In Need (ENN) Campaign!

Executive Director Rev. David B. Wolf and Samaritan Program Participant Sam Tanner launched our annual summer Empowering our Neighbors in Need (ENN) Campaign with talks in April at St. Dunstan’s Bethesda and St. Luke’s Bethesda.

With this issue of In Step, we are also launching our Summer 2024 ENN Drive to replenish our supplies of much-needed toiletry items, grocery gift cards, and food for Next Step Program Participants just getting on their feet. See “Toiletry Drive” in column at right or click this link to learn more and donate.

ENN is a vibrant annual campaign by Samaritan’s partner churches to educate their communities about the critical challenges faced by our region’s most vulnerable residents. The campaign is also aimed at encouraging parishioners and the wider community to join Samaritan in being a part of the solution.

The most numerous ENN events tend to be Samaritan Sundays, when partner congregations invite Rev. David and a participant to bear witness to Samaritan’s mission and success during the sermon slot and before or after services as well.

Other events have included concerts, community walks, ice cream socials, and drives — the possibilities are endless!

Another idea might be a service project — the Episcopal Diocese of Washington (EDOW) young adult ministry (pictured above) had a great morning of service at Samaritan’s Northwest office in March. The EDOW group repainted walls, reorganized closets and furniture, and learned about Samaritan and the issues that our participants face. A different group may be install a community garden at the Arlington office in June.

And don’t delay reaching out to Rev. David soon at dwolf@samaritanministry.org to reserve the Sunday that works best for your church to host him this year!
