Volunteer Spotlight: Margaret Hilton

Margaret Hilton has been a Resume Assistant at Samaritan Ministry’s Northwest DC Office since August of 2017. She came to Samaritan after retiring from nineteen years at the National Academy of Sciences, where she was one of the earlier women to lead a team. She is a parishioner at St John’s Chevy Chase in Maryland. She heard about SMGW from other parishes that were sending volunteers to the NW Office, and decided to check it out!

Margaret provides participants skilled assistance with patience and grace. She is an important contributor to the growth of SMGW’s employment and resume services, helping participants enhance their job skills. Like other resume assistants, she encourages participants to dig deep and list skills they may never have considered as relevant to the jobs they are applying to. Margaret says “working with participants on resumes and online applications is a fulfilling part of volunteering”, and that she is MOST happy when she can help someone create a strong resume.

The staff at Samaritan Ministry’s NW Office is most happy that Margaret chose to volunteer there. We hope she can share her kindness and care for many years to come!
