Samaritan Ministry of Greater Washington (SMGW) has more than 60 Partner churches and schools whose gifts of groceries, clothing and toiletries; volunteers who serve as program and event staff, as well as board and governance leaders; and critical financial support allow Samaritan Ministry of Greater Washington to thrive. When Samaritan Ministry thrives, our participants have the best opportunities to reach their own housing and employment goals!

It is caring and generosity that empowers our neighbors in Greater Washington to enjoy better lives today and, through the ongoing work of Samaritan Ministry, create better lives for themselves tomorrow.

Join Us in this Ministry!

Becoming a Partner of Samaritan Ministry involves a committment to be in relationship, to be part of a community, and being involved in and supporting our ministry in many ways. Partnership with Samaritan Ministry provides your congregation a way to engage with members of your community in ways that build-up all of our lives.

Parishes are expected to:

  • Appoint at least one (but preferably two) members of their congregation to serve as partner representatives. Representatives are expected to attend council meetings that take place five times per year.  The representative serves as the liasion, and an advocate for Samaritan Ministry within the church or school.
  • Support Samaritan Ministry with prayers, an annual pledge of financial support, volunteers (in a variety of capacities), and with participation in Samaritan Ministry events and activities.

Contact our Executive Director, Rev. David B. Wolf, for more information on becoming a partner at dwolf [at] or 202-722-2280 ext. 310.
