Showing Holiday Blessings

Man carrying groceriesThe Holidays are not far away and SMGW once again would like to provide our Next Step Participants and their families with a blessed Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas. Last year we provided 185 Thanksgiving food bags and 100 gift cards to our participants.

Unfortunately, due to the decrease in donations, we were unable to provide gift cards to all our single participants. Yet, we are one of a few organizations in the area that works with single individuals between the ages of 18 and 61.

Through your generosity, this year we would like to provide 200 food bags and 250 gift cards to our participants. We are asking for $25 gift cards from familiar grocery stores such as Giant, Safeway, Walmart, Target, Harris Teeter and Trader Joe’s so our participants may purchase a turkey or other fresh items which we cannot store at our offices. Any cards not used at Thanksgiving will be used at Christmas.

This Christmas SMGW will provide participants’ children from newborn to 12 years of age with two toys and one educational gift. For teenagers (13-17), in place of gifts we would like to give them a $25 gift card allowing them the freedom of choice. Gift cards from Walmart, Target, Starbucks and Old Navy are best but all gifts cards are welcomed and appreciated.
