5k success!

“I had never participated in a 5K before,” says Doris Warrell, SMGW’s Development Director, “but even soaking from the rain, we all achieved our goal!”

Samaritan Ministry folks (nine runners/walkers, two event volunteers present, and three additional runners/walkers) celebrated the morning of June 3 in beautiful Bluemont Park in Arlington, VA. Three churches (Washington National Cathedral, DC; Transfiguration, Silver Spring; and Our Saviour, Silver Spring) organized as teams. Together we raised $2,000 and counting.

Congratulations and gratitude to all our 5K runners/walkers: Angela Walker (who also won in her age group), Anna Scrimenti, Beverly Byron (who also won in her age group), Carol Cropp (our top fundraiser), Charles Day, Claire van Stolk (who also won in her age group), Doris Warrell, Francy Leger Jr., Jean Holman, John Capozzi and Kathy Staudt.

Special thanks and appreciate to Claire van Stolk and Case von Stolk from St. Andrew’s Episcopal School who for their Senior Project did 5K outreach, social media and day-of activities that contributed to our fun success.

A part of the Generosity Series, Generosity DC is a multi-charity 5K Run/Walk in which nine local, national and international organizations participated.
